Four Day Intensive Buddhist Studies Course with Khenpo Tsering – August 17 – 20, 2018

We are happy to host Khenpo Tsering Samdrup again this August for a 4-day intensive Buddhist Studies course from Friday to  Monday, August 25-28.

The course will cover three texts by Maitreya. Bring your pen, notebooks, and copies of the texts. This program is not geared towards beginners but rather students with some background in Buddhist philosophy. If you are not sure if this course is for you, you are welcome to join us for the first session(s) before comitting to the full program.

The course will use two of Maitreya’s Five Teachings to provide an “analysis of how ordinary confused consciousness can be transformed into wisdom,“ and how we should understand Buddha Nature, the “ground of enlightenment… and the nature and qualities of Buddhahood.”  We will also begin studying volume one of Mipham Rinpoche’s Gateway to Knowledge, a condensation of the Buddha’s teachings, “the philosophical backbone of the living tradition of Tibettan Buddhism”.

These boundless qualities are covered by our habits of self-clinging and ignorance, which can be overcome by the mind of awakening – bodhicitta – and developing the six perfections of generosity, patience,  ethics, effort and meditation that lead to wisdom.
