Four Day Intensive Buddhist Studies Course with Khenpo Tsering, August 17 – 20, 2018

The San Luis Obispo Bodhi Path Center is pleased to host Khenpo Tsering Samdup again for a 4-day intensive Buddhist Studies course, covering texts by Maitreya and others, from August 17-20, 2018. Bring your pen, notebooks, and copies of the texts!

This program is not geared towards beginners but rather toward students with some background in Buddhist philosophy. If you are not sure if this course is for you, you are welcome to try the first session(s) before committing to the full program.

The course will use two of Maitreya’s Five Teachings to provide an “analysis of how ordinary confused consciousness can be transformed into wisdom,“ and how we should understand Buddha Nature, the “ground of enlightenment… and the nature and qualities of Buddhahood.”  We will also begin studying volume one of Mipham Rinpoche’s Gateway to Knowledge, a condensation of the Buddha’s teachings, “the philosophical backbone of the living tradition of Tibettan Buddhism”.

In his teens Khenpo moved to Rumtek Monastery, the seat of the Karma Kagyu School of Tibetan Buddhism in Sikkim, India and began spiritual training as a monk.
